Common Questions Before Starting Therapy
-
Yes! I have partnered with Headway and am an in-network provider with:
Aetna
BlueCross BlueShield (Anthem, Empire, BlueShield of Northeastern NY)
Cigna
Oxford
Oscar Health
United Healthcare
Headway takes care of all insurance claims and billing, with a stellar reputation for simple and effective practices.
If you have a different insurance plan with out-of-network benefits I can provide an invoice, called a ‘Superbill’ for you to directly request reimbursement from your insurance company. In the meantime, you would still need to pay the out-of-pocket fees for each session on the date of service.
It’s always recommended to call your insurance company prior to treatment to confirm your out-of-network benefits and any possible limitations to coverage.

Most definitely! While some find their diagnosis helpful in treatment, it is not always necessary to meet your needs. Whether you think you have a ‘problem,’ a prior diagnosis, or currently don’t meet a specific diagnostic criteria, therapy is for everyone.
Please note, if seeking out-of-network reimbursement or in-network coverage, your insurance company will require you meet medical necessity for a clinical diagnosis.

The information you share in therapy is almost always kept confidential and is not revealed to others; unless you give your consent or if exceptions per New York State law and federal HIPAA law are met. This includes, but is not limited to, the imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected child/elder abuse or neglect, and insurance requests if you are receiving cost reimbursement.
In any such event, I will try to discuss the situation with you or to notify you before any confidential information is revealed; sharing the least amount of information necessary to meet legal standards.
